Testimonial of Don Doman
John Reding took one look at our 1920s dining room set and gave his opinion, "You've got to restore this." This is not what I wanted to hear. My wife wanted to save it, but I was ready to give or throw it a way. I just knew we were going to spend a fortune trying to make a champion show dog out of a stray mongrel.
The captain's chairs had long stood under the carport getting wet and and were falling apart. The top of the buffet had suffered Halloween damage when a pumpkin began rotting and destroyed a nice circle of finish. The table wasn't quite big enough.
The results were stunning. After refinishing, the two-tone woods stood out like beacons. Burl and grain grab the eye. The buffet was beautiful. The chairs were restored past perfection. The table was given a extra leaf to accomodate three people on each side for dinner parties of eight.
The dining room remodeling was planned around our "new" furniture. The results are worthy of a featured article in Better Home and Gardens. J.R. Reding made heirloom quality from what had been been nice pieces of furniture once upon a time. I doubt you will find this set anywhere in the world, and certainly not as nice. We now have excellent furniture from a bygone era that stands by itself and will last another lifetime.
Thank you, John Reding.
